Easy Meat Pies Recipe

Good Mincemeat Pie Recipe?

I’d like to make a mincemeat pie for my parents on Christmas, but I can’t find a suitable recipe. I’m 15, so any kind of alcoholic soak is out of the question and I don’t eat meat. Does anyone know of an easy recipe for a pie that will keep for a couple of days?
Thank you!!
I cannot put meat into my recipe. I’m a vegetarian and so is my family. Is it at all possible to make a mincemeat peat meat-free?

I love mincemeat but I don’t make it from scratch; it’s just too damn time consuming and expensive. In the grocery store, in the pie filling section, there is the jarred (and sometimes boxed) Borden’s Nonesuch-brand mincement. It’s vegetarian to my knowledge (and I think maye even Kosher), and very, very good. Some people think it’s too spicy and add raisins to cut it, but I use it straight. Read the label, but I think you’re OK with it. I think it’s about $7 or 8 a jar.

The Best Slow & Easy Recipes: A Best Recipe Classic

The Best Slow & Easy Recipes: A Best Recipe Classic

$26.58

Something magical happens with certain foods when you slow down the cooking: flavors deepen and become more complex, meat turns meltingly tender, and fruit and vegetables develop a rich, caramelized exterior. With The Best Slow Cooking Recipes, the cooks at America’s Test Kitchen have taken a fresh approach to classic slow cooking techniques to give you uncomplicated recipes that are worth the wait. This approach has countless benefits–it’s a great choice for busy cooks (much of the time is "hands-free," allowing you to turn to other tasks); it’s economical (you can take an inexpensive, tough cut of meat and turn it into an unbelievably tender roast); and many recipes can easily be made ahead (such as Smoky Southwestern Chili with Chipotle, Black Beans, and Corn). You’ll find new flavor variations on familiar favorites, with recipes for Tuscan White Bean Stew, Indoor Pulled Pork, Porter Braised Short Ribs, Smothered Pork Chops with Spicy Collard Greens, and Braised Chicken with Almonds and Pine Nuts. We also dedicate an entire chapter to cooking en cocotte, or casserole roasting–and if this technique is unfamiliar to you, it won’t be for long. Here, meat is simply placed in a Dutch oven with a few aromatics and left to slowly cook in its own juices at a low temperature in the oven, resulting in unbelievably tender meat with concentrated flavor. This uncomplicated method works with everything from pork, beef, and lamb to chicken and fish (Salmon en Cocotte with Leeks and White Wine is a favorite). But we don’t stop there. We’ve also slowed down the cooking of side dishes, vegetables, and even fruit, making the most of every ingredient by giving the flavors time to deepen andconcentrate. The result? A variety of richly flavored recipes to round out your meal–including Baked Risotto with Mushrooms, Savory Bread Pudding with Spinach and Gruyere, Braised Leeks, Baked Apples with Honey and Creme Fraiche, and Roasted Pears with Caramel Sauce.

American Home Cooking: Over 300 Spirited Recipes Celebrating Our Rich Tradition of Home Cooking

$9.13

Nothing says American like American home cooking. From a steaming bowl of New England Clam Chowder, to Tucson Chimichangas, to Door County Sour Cherry Pie, these are the dishes that form the soul of our collected culinary heritage. And these are the recipes best-selling authors Cheryl and Bill Jamison serve up — in their award-winning cookbook American Home Cooking. Cheryl and Bill invite you to sample a coast-to-coast feast of more than 300 recipes straight from the heart of America’s own home cooking tradition. The Jamisons traveled, dined, and cooked with people all over the United States, gathering recipe inspiration along the way. They visited cheese crafters in Wisconsin, overnighted with Pennsylvania Dutch farmers, and picked up techniques for frying catfish from the first African American catfish farmer in Mississippi. They ate warm fig cake on Okracoke Island and chilled Dungeness crab freshly pulled from Oregon waters. The result is a collection of simple, full-flavored dishes that truly reflect the appetite — and the spirit — of America. American Home Cooking features the best dishes ever created in American home kitchens. All the recipes are supermarket-friendly, easy to make, and loaded with robust flavors, from all-time favorites like meat loaf, scalloped potatoes, and lemon meringue pie to regional dishes such as Tidewater Peanut Soup, Kansas City Sugar-and-Spice Spareribs, King Ranch Chicken, Maui Mango Bread, and Catahoula Sweet-Dough Pies. A bona-fide culinary classic, this sweeping collection offers delicious ideas for every meal and occasion, and includes sidebar quotes from American literary and culinary heroes like Mark Twain and Julia Child.
